Greetings...!!!

It has been indeed a nice experience to create the blog. In fact, I have already used blogs quite often with my students and teachers for interaction and it was on this site only.
I think that blogs really help the teachers of English in the ways more than one. If the teacher really wants, s/he can use it for developing Language Skills (LSRW), Grammar, Vocabulary and so on. The important aspect for the teachers to use any blog would be to use it with a clear objective or the purpose. The more clear the teacher is, the more effective learning experience it would be for his or her students. Moreover, today's generation has accepted technology as the second nature and hence, we, as the teachers need to integrate technology in teaching with a view to directing our students' thinking. It would definitely help them use technology in the appropriate manner and perhaps with a purpose.

Thanks.

  1. Hi Mohini, I enjoyed reading your comments. I completely agree that technology must always be used with specific objectives in mind. Technology for technology's sake does not lead to better learning. It's a topic we will revisit again and again this term!

    1. Hello Janine,

      Thank you for your reply.
      Very True...!!!
I have seen teachers using a simple tool like Powerpoint Presentations without understading the potential of it as an assistant to teacher. In fact, in a way, that leads to the misuse of technology.

  2. Hello Mohini and Janine!

I couldn't agree more with you! Having specific learning goals and teaching objectives is crucial when it comes to the use of technology in education. Web 2.0 tools are innovative in the sense that they enable fluent interaction and instant communication.

    Best regards,

    1. Dear Roxana,

      Thank you for your reply.

Yes, Web 2.0 is interactive but here the idea is teacher using technology with a purpose in mind. In fact, the more effective the tools are, the more clarity the teacher should have to use them more effectively.

  3. Dear Mohimi.
I´m totally agree with you when you talk about now a day’s students who are growing inside of the technology, they born with the chip inside of them, unfortunately on the other hand we know people involved in education that are still afraid of this issue. Some people from older generations consider that technology is not as important as that old blackboard. They still think that teachers are not someone who facilitates education, they consider teachers as the only ones who still own the knowledge, and this is not true, since everybody has access to the Internet, knowledge is for everyone now.

    1. Dear Andrea, (Please let me know if not addressed properly, because it's a long name,I chose this.)

Thank you for your agreement and extension of the ideas.
I really like the phrase used by you 'born with the chip...." Yes, that's what today's generation does and that's why it is a challenge for the teachers to guide and direct their thinking.
I feel that as facilitators we need to give them right purpose and reason to use technology. In any case, they will spend more time in using all these latest tools, then why not as a teacher we can give them some task or assignment or just an learning experience wherein they use these tools with a view to achieving an objective and thereby learn in the true sense of the term.

Another point discussed by you is also an important one. Even, I have observed teachers who feel that what they have been doing since years is perfectly alright. And hence, they do not want to change and adopt new ways of integrating technology. But they forget that by doing so, they are keeping them away from the world that is available on the single click of the mouse. They might be wonderful teachers, but if they try to use technology they can really enhance their teaching skills and be more wonderful and effective practitioners.

      Thanks.

    1. Hi Po-Yu,

      Thanks for your kind words.
Yes, it definitely helps in the classroom because it is the learner-centred approach of teaching and it helps the teacher to bring the outside real world into the classroom.

  5. Hi,Mohini~!^^*
I am fully agree to the point that this generation is born to be tech-savvy. And setting up a clear and explicit objective is all the time on the top priority to all teachers.

    1. Hello Michelle,

Thank you for your reply. I have observed that most of the times, it is in the hands of the teacher/s to make students rise upto the expectations set by them(teacher/s). And hence, working with the clear objectives helps the teacher.

      Best,
      Mohini
